Information about Sonoma County Fair’s new clear bag policy - The Press Democrat
Organizers say it will speed up bag checks and enhance security.
The 2024 Sonoma County Fair opened Thursday and with it came a new rule that only clear bags are allowed through the entrance gates.
In a Thursday afternoon Facebook post, organizers said the move is to “make sure everyone has a blast while keeping things safe and smooth at the entrance.” They said it will speed up bag checks and enhance security.

So what’s allowed this year?
Clear plastic, vinyl and PVC bags no larger than 12-by-12-by-6 inches; as well as clutch purses no larger than 4.5-by-6.5 inches. Exceptions are made for medical equipment and baby gear.
Also on the approved list? A one-gallon clear plastic bag
There are messages on the website about the policy including images of approved and nonapproved bags.
This year’s theme is “Greatest Fair on Earth.” It runs through Aug. 11 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, 1450 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa.
