Man Spots Fuzzy Lumps In Plastic Box — Then Realizes What's Actually Going On - The Dodo

Late last month, a man was traveling through South Wales when he stumbled on something bizarre. There appeared to be an abandoned plastic crate in the road with little balls of black fluff inside.

Approaching the crate, the man realized the crushing truth — the little balls of fur were kittens, and they were only a few weeks old.

“We were absolutely devastated to receive the call,” All Creatures Great And Small sanctuary manager Angharad Williams told The Dodo. “My heart sank [and] I immediately thought, ‘How could someone do this to them? How could they just abandon them and walk away with no care in the world?’ It was sickening.”

All Creatures Great And Small staff rushed over to help and quickly made room for the kittens at the rescue.

“They were terrified of humans at first,” Williams said. “The vets estimated them at around 6 weeks of age — far too young to be away from their mother.”

The group of little cats included three boys and one girl, all of whom tentatively began snacking on food and treats as soon as they arrived, slowly acclimating to life in care.

In time, the kittens gained confidence and started coming out of their shells.

“They are now very happy [and] thriving in our cattery,” Williams said. “The girl is very calm [and] keeps to herself, whereas the boys play fight all day. They are so entertaining to watch and [they] now adore human contact.”

Safe in expert hands, these kittens don’t have to worry about being abandoned ever again.

“Their futures look very positive,” Williams said. “They are due to go up for rehoming within the next week [and] we just know that they’ll be snapped up super quick by loving families.”
