The 35-year-old actor, Blake Lively starred as Carol Ferris, who was Ryan Reynolds’ Hal Jordan love interest in the 2011 film, Green Lantern. Back in 2009, a report claimed about the cut-throat competition, actresses were in for the former's role.

It stated that she was among the top contenders for the female protagonist's role which included Eva Green, Keri Russell, Diane Kruger, and Jennifer Garner.

LatinaReview.com at the time reported that Reynolds was already booked for the protagonist's role meanwhile for his opposite role, the execs were considering a slightly older actress. Even though she worked extremely hard to get a chance to work in the superhero movie, it came out as a big mistake for her. The 2011 DC film was unable to grab fans’ attention in the long run with the project getting massive negative criticism from both critics and online commentators.

Given that the franchise wanted it to be strong in content, it eventually affected its quality as many viewed it as extremely complicated which was unbearable for the viewers. It also overlooked the supporting characters’ plot giving another reason to contribute to its downfall. Several other reasons added enough weightage overall to scrap the sequel.

Due to its overall negative performance, it became one of the biggest box-office bombs in history, grossing $220 million worldwide. However, it ended well for the film stars. Having met while filming the movie in 2010, Reynolds and Lively began dating by the end of 2011. Their passionate romance eventually led to the duo marrying secretly the next year. They shares three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty. They have also welcomed a new child into the family whose details are still under wraps.
